“Who the hell is this girl???” I wondered as I wrapped my arms around this total stranger. “How do I not know you by now?”
I was looking for a photography studio, almost five years ago. I saw a property that looked perfect. The listing agent looked nice – dare I say ‘perky’? So I called her and we met to take a look.
Immediately, I knew her. I mean really knew her.
She was my tribe.
We could have chatted each other up all day (and night!) if we didn’t have other ‘adulty’ things to do.
Instead, I bought the property and we became fast friends.
Since that day, almost five years ago, I rooked Sherri into doing theatre, we yard saled together, took in the occasional liquid lunch (or two), roamed many the abandoned (or should have been!) building, plotted world dominance, sang Christmas carols together, celebrated all the holidays (and made up some of our own), produced a fantastic promotional video, shot a house or two…
And now, the pièce de ré·sis·tance, we closed on my dream, my ultimate dream – The Evolution Arts Center.
In this lifetime we are lucky to make friends at all – especially true friends – the friends that stand beside you when you are ready to jump and aren’t afraid to give you a little nudge off the cliff – those friends are a rarity and forever.
Sherri is my nudge – my spontaneous, creative, spirited nudge and the last five years wouldn’t have been the same without her.
On the night of my most recent closing (and ultimate beginning) I just want to say ‘Cheers’ to her and thank her for the energy and spirit she has brought to my life. <3
